Men's Claddagh Rings
Whether you're Irish yourself, have Irish ancestry, or simply admire the unique traditions of a storied culture, our mens Claddagh rings will prove a meaningful addition to your jewelry collection.
The ring is not only a traditional Irish ring often given as a gift; it is also a striking symbol, one rife with symbolism and an almost mystical allure.
The hands on the Claddagh represent friendship, the crown represents loyalty, and the heart represents love - a powerful combination.
Our mens Claddagh rings and wedding bands can be worn for many reasons.
They can be used as a symbol of love, as a token between friends, for casual wear, or even (if one wishes) to indicate one's relationship status.
A Claddagh ring worn on the right hand with the heart facing outwards indicates that the "heart is open". Worn on the right hand with the heart facing inwards towards the body indicates that the person's heart "has been captured".
The ring gets its name from the teeny town of Claddagh, a small fishing visit near Galway city in western Ireland.
There are many myths surrounding the origins of the ring, but the most popular concerns Richard Joyce, a silversmith from Galway.
Legend has it that Joyce, while travelling to the West Indies, was captured and sold into slavery under the service of a Moorish goldsmith.
During his time in enslavement, Joyce became a talented goldsmith, and created the Claddagh ring for his lover back home.
After fourteen years in captivity, Joyce was finally released and able to bring the ring to his beloved, whom he promptly married.
The charming story has some undeniable proof: Joyce's initials are carved into one of the earliest surviving Claddagh rings.
Carve your own story with our superb collection of Claddagh pieces.
